Description

Premium UK-certified 20ft (6m) long, 9ft (2.8m) wide, low stretch hammocks in a beautiful range of ombre colours. Perfect for the studio or the stage and suitable for aerial yoga and aerial slings.

Supplied with O-rings and a Prodigy bag.

Aerial yoga uses the hammock as a prop and the extra support allows for deep stretches and even inversions of yoga poses. Aerial yoga hammocks are great for developing core strength, flexibility, and spine decompression.

Aerial sling (silks loop/dance hammock) uses the hammock more like an aerial silk, incorporating drops, spinning, and dynamic circus tricks.

Aerial Safety

Aerial equipment should never be used unsupervised, please consult a professional.

Everything below assumes you have a suitable and safe rigging point, like a professionally installed rigging point or a reputable and rated freestanding rig. Not every home/studio will be the same, so we cannot advise on this part. If you haven’t established a safe rigging point, please do this first with the help of a structural engineer/experienced rigger/professional familiar with what you're hanging and where you're hanging it.

Check out our aerial blogs for more information.

Stretch, invert, and fly!

These 20ft long hammocks (before the fabric is tied) will suit any ceiling height for yoga, but if you’re looking for more fabric, check out our slings here.

The 9ft width allows you to lay fully flat or even get into a full horizontal split. They have low stretch which allows the swing to support you, and means that drops or moves requiring a thin band of silk around you are nicely cushioned.

Your hammock can be rigged in a few different ways depending on your needs and preferences. More info on hammock rigging can be found here and below.

A fixed length hammock with O-rings

Your heat-printed ombre or multi-colour Prodigy hammock comes with O-rings. Heat printing keeps the yarn smooth and soft, retaining the fabric's shine and texture.

This way of rigging is best for an aerial sling (also known as aerial loop/silks loop), where you will spin and drop and won't need many adjustments once you have set the height.

If you're looking for something to use for stretching and inverting, drops or dancing, a relaxing hammock cocoon or a secure yoga swing for the kids - this is the set-up for you!

1 point rigging

Rigging your hammock from 1 point is best with the O-ring attachments, and is the easiest way to add a swivel to your rigging for aerial sling.

If you want to dance and spin with your hammock or make a comfy and cosy cocoon, you'll need to rig it from 1 point.

2 point rigging

Rigging your hammock from 2 points is best for beginners because there's no twisting and the hammock is more stable and easier to control. It gives you more space inside the fabric, and it's generally preferred for yoga. It's also an excellent set-up for aerial conditioning.

Rigging from 2 points is recommended when you don't have much height. You can rig from 2 points with the prusik set (recommended) or with O-rings

How to rig these hammocks

We've partnered with Circus Rigging & Safety to create a series of fantastic videos to help you.

Mark Gibson from Aerial Edge, Glasgow’s Circus School, and Catherine Knowles, from Community Circus Paisley, will share their knowledge with you, and if you need to know anything else - we're here to help you too!

How to tie the knot!

No, we don't mean marriage. Here’s our quick guide to tying your hammock to O-rings.

We use this knot because it's easier (but not easy) to untie after using the hammock compared to other knots.

Selvedge

Prodigy Silks are produced in a way that leaves a selvedge marking on either side of the fabric. These show up as a series of slightly darker circles.

As the width is a major feature of these silks, we have elected not to trim these edges.

Please rest assured that this does not affect the strength or durability of the silks.

Recommended accessories

Easy adjustments with prusik knot

This is the most affordable and accessible way to make precise height adjustments. It doesn't require using the o-rings, you just need sewn loop slings and simple knots.

It’s recommended when you need to make adjustments quickly and is very well suited to aerial yoga classes, stretching and inverting, but not recommended for drops or aerial sling.

Use a 5 Loop Chain with O-rings

When o-rings are tied to your fabric, if you want to make slight adjustments without untying the knot, you can use the Prodigy 5 Loop Chain.

This works well if you’re the only person using the hammock, and you want to adjust the height perfectly and quickly each time. It will take a little bit of time to set up, but once it’s set up, you’ll know precisely where the hammock will hang when you clip onto each loop.
