Aerial equipment should never be used unsupervised, please consult a professional.

Everything below assumes you have a suitable and safe rigging point, like a professionally installed rigging point or a reputable and rated freestanding rig. Not every home/studio will be the same, so we cannot advise on this part. If you haven’t established a safe rigging point, please do this first with the help of a structural engineer/experienced rigger/professional familiar with what you're hanging and where you're hanging it.

Stunning colours

These fabrics look stunning at home, in the studio, or on the stage. The fading ombre colours and the dazzling multi-colour designs look particularly spectacular when backlit and make for incredible photos and performances.

Prodigy uses a heat printing technique that gives the colours high precision. This means the ombre colour will change gradually, look natural, and consistent. Hand dying won’t allow for such high precision and consistency.

Performance and practice

Heat printing keeps the yarn smooth and soft, hand-dying can negatively affect the texture of the fabric. These fabrics retain a nice shine, and because of the heat printing, they are less slippery than our single-colour Prodigy silks.

The vertical colour fade of the ombre colours will help you find the fabric's edges quickly and easily, making separation of the fabric easier, saving time and energy when you’re in the air.

These are low-stretch, making them easy to climb. Low-stretch is not no-stretch, they still have a little bounce, which is comfortable for drops and wraps.

At 280cm/110 inches wide, they are excellent for cocoons and width-based wraps. At 40 denier, they won't be too bulky for most aerialists' hands.

Prodigy figure of 8 rigged with a white background

Rig with a figure 8

If you want to spin, connect a figure 8 to your swivel. We recommend using a swivel to reduce the rotational force on your rigging and anchor point.

If you don't want to spin, you can connect directly to your anchor point or use a strop/polysafe rope between hardware, but be aware of rotational forces on the rigging and anchor point.

Slack drops

All aerial fabrics are prone to reaching high temperatures during long or high-energy slack drops, which can result in small melted patches and holes. These holes are caused primarily by the friction of the fabric rubbing against itself and the performer during high-speed movement. Correct technique, clothing, and fabric choice will help your fabrics last longer.

All nylon and low-stretch fabrics are more susceptible to this phenomenon than the stretchy polyester of Firetoys Silks.

You should always take care when practising slack drops and be aware of the heat you can generate during these drops. If you regularly perform slack drops, you will need to inspect the entire length of your fabric regularly, and the fabric will need replacing more often.

Excellent!!!

Excellent!!!! The silk is amazing. It looks gorgeous and feels even better during the training. I was worried about grip when received, because the silk looked slippery. But grip is very good, just like written in the description. Perfect silk!

Beautiful silks, wonderful grip

I bought these silks for myself and have been using them for a month now - they have a lovely colorful and somewhat sheer look and beautiful shine - they LOOK like they should be slippery in the hands but aren't! They have a great grip and a perfect amount of stretch for me. Also loving the width that adds to their range of uses, this would make a lovely hammock also.

Not what I was expecting

Unfortunately, these silks we're not what was I was expecting. They are not low stretch at all, more like a medium and that's not what I was looking for. The color is beautiful and if you are interested in more stretch, then these are magical. I just wish the details were more honest about what you are getting.

Note from Firetoys: compared to Firetoys silks, which is our standard medium stretch, these are low stretch fabrics. There are other fabrics used for aerial with almost no stretch, which are more commonly used in the USA, and compared to those these do have more stretch.

Beautiful Silks

These silks are stunning. They look awesome on photographs, and are perfect for beginners as low stretch. I bought the 10m for my xpole a frame in the blue ombre and I couldn't be happier. Already planning on buying my next colour

Stunning silks

These silks are stunning! But not only that, they are also awesome to use! They have a perfect amount of stretch and grip. What's also really useful is the colour fade - it helps you find the edge of the silk really quickly. This is useful for training/saving energy and for performing :) couldn't be happier with them.
